TECNO and Lonely Planet have jointly announced the Shot On CAMON Contest 2026, the third edition of TECNO’s annual global photography competition. The partnership goes beyond technology to celebrate the people, places, and stories behind every image. Three Lonely Planet photographers will contribute original imagery shot on the CAMON 50 Series, and one Lonely Planet photographer will sit on the final-round jury panel alongside TECNO’s imaging team.
This year’s theme is “Seeing is Believing.” The contest runs from May 15 to October 11, 2026, and invites smartphone photographers worldwide to capture real, beautiful, and unrepeatable moments using the TECNO CAMON 50 Series. In a year increasingly shaped by AI, the theme is TECNO’s call to celebrate authentic photography and real-life observation, including diverse skin tones, fleeting emotions, and everyday moments.
The contest is divided into five categories. Faces Unfiltered focuses on honest portraits showing people exactly as they are. Night Unveiled is for after-dark shots that capture mood and mystery. Culture Unscripted celebrates the natural rhythm of places, from festivals to street interactions. Unspotted is a telephoto special for capturing distant details most people miss. The fifth category, AI Unimagined, asks participants to first shoot a real photo on a TECNO phone and then transform it using TECNO’s AI Gallery feature. Both the original and the AI version must be submitted together, keeping real photography at the centre of even the AI category.
On the prizes side, one photographer will be awarded the TECNO Photography Master title and $8,000 in cash. Five Gold Prize winners will each receive $3,000, five Silver Prize winners will receive $2,000 each, and five Bronze Prize winners will receive $1,000 each. Ten participants will also be selected as TECNO Friends and receive a CAMON 50 Series smartphone. The Photography Master and all five Gold Prize winners will additionally be invited on a fully arranged trip to the Philippines.
To enter, participants need to post their photos on Instagram with the hashtags #ShotOnCAMON2026 and #TECNOCAMON50Series, with a visible TECNO device watermark, then submit high-resolution versions by email or through TECNO’s official website. All entries must be original, and duplicate submissions will be disqualified. Winning work will be featured in global media exhibitions, TECNO’s annual photo book, and across TECNO’s official platforms.
