Xiaomi 17 Max Set to Launch on May 21 with a 200MP Camera and 8,000mAh Battery

Xiaomi has officially confirmed that the Xiaomi 17 Max will be unveiled on May 21 in China. The phone will be the centerpiece of a larger product event that also includes the YU7 GT electric SUV, making it one of the more ambitious single-day launches the company has attempted.

On the hardware side, the Xiaomi 17 Max comes equipped with a flat 6.9-inch AMOLED display featuring slim bezels on all sides. Under the hood, it runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, which is among the fastest mobile processors currently available. The battery is a notable highlight at 8,000mAh, a capacity that puts it well above most flagship competitors. Photography is handled by a 200MP primary rear camera. The phone will be available in three colours: white, clear blue, and pixel black.

Beyond the phone, Xiaomi is launching the Band 10 Pro, an upgraded smartband with more accurate health tracking sensors and improved sleep monitoring. The Band 10 Pro also supports NFC, meaning users can make contactless payments directly from their wrist. Notably, it is designed to connect smoothly with both Xiaomi’s own car ecosystem and Apple devices, making it compatible with a wider range of users.

A new audio product is also part of the launch. Xiaomi is entering the clip-on earphones market for the first time. The earphones follow an open-ear design, which sits on the ear rather than inside it, making them more comfortable for long listening sessions. They use an 11mm driver for audio output and support LHDC 5.0, a high-quality wireless audio format. They also carry Hi-Res Gold certification, which confirms they meet a recognized standard for audio quality.

The combination of a large-battery flagship phone, wearables, new audio hardware, and an electric vehicle at a single event reflects Xiaomi’s broader strategy of building a connected product ecosystem rather than competing on smartphones alone.
